The ultimate goal of the important day in the year is to prompt global action. Through activities like tree planting and clean-up campaigns, it inspires individuals and organisations to prioritise sustainability and safeguard the planet for future generations.

The theme for Earth Day this year is 'Planet vs. Plastics'. Earthday.org is committed to ending plastics for the health of humans and the planet, advocating for a 60% reduction in the production of plastics by 2040.

Plastic packaging waste in the cosmetic industry

Plastic packaging waste in the cosmetic industry remains a significant environmental concern, with vast quantities of plastic entering landfills and oceans annually. According to data from Euromonitor International, the global cosmetic industry produces over 120 billion units of packaging each year, a substantial portion of which is single-use plastic. This contributes to environmental degradation, including harm to wildlife through ingestion or entanglement, exacerbation of deforestation due to the production of plastic materials, and water wastage in the manufacturing process. Additionally, micro-plastics from packaging can infiltrate ecosystems, posing threats to aquatic life and potentially entering the food chain. Addressing this issue requires efforts from companies to adopt sustainable packaging alternatives and promote environmentally-friendly initiatives.

Our Tubes

Good news! We've started updating our packaging with tubes and caps that will now be made from 35% recycled plastic while also being recyclable and biodegradable, making them carbon neutral. Our tubes are also designed with special biodegradable technology which allows the plastic and commercial packaging resins to biodegrade, without leaving behind any microplastics, if it happens to end up in landfill.

Our Glass Bottles

Glass is infinitely recyclable which means CO2 is almost always eliminated. Take this as your reminder to recycle your glass whether it’s our moisturiser jars or our Skin Treat bottles and pipettes!

Your Shipper Box

We pride ourselves on our beautiful packaging. It’s also got a greener side to it - making it better for delivering your cruelty-free skincare while leaving a softer impact on our environment!

Here are some facts about our packaging:

Our packaging is 100% recyclable and doesn’t contain any OPP polypropylene film.
Our boxes are printed using soy ink and water-based varnish so it doesn’t interfere with the recycling process.
Move over packing peanuts, we use cornstarch and water-soluble fill in all packages because it’s both biodegradable and compostable.
All shipping materials used come from responsibly-managed, FSC-certified forests.
Our parcels are secured with paper packaging tape that has a natural rubber adhesive.
